Western Tien-Shan - Transboundary Tangible Heritage Property

29 May 2013

The Western Tien-Shan has been targeted as possible tangible transboundary heritage property involving Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan in the Regional Action Plan for the World Tangible Heritage.

A meeting was organized by the UNESCO Cluster Office in Almaty and the National Commission of the Kyrgyz Republic for UNESCO to complete the nomination dossier.

Participants also agreed on further activities and discussed possible schemes for coherent management of the nominated area.

As a result, it was decided to assign works on the completion of the Western Tien-Shan nomination dossier to the Association for the Conservation of Biodiversity in Kazakhstan in the adopted Resolution.

The dossier for the Western Tien-Shan transboundary nominations will be submitted to the World Heritage Centre for consideration in September and a decision will be made by 1 February 2014.
