On 19-20 October 2015 in Almaty and on 22-23 October 2015 in Astana Adil soz International Foundation for Protection of Freedom of Speech supported by UNESCO Almaty Cluster Office and International Programme for the Development of Communication (IPDC) organized two workshops on Media Compliance as a Corporate Culture and Professional Ethics for media outlets from Kazakhstan.
The Almaty workshop was supporting participants from Kyzylorda, South Kazakhstan, Zhambyl and Almaty regions and the Astana venue assisting to Ust-Kamenogorsk, Uralsk, Karaganda, Kokchetav, Pavlodar, Kostanai and Aktobe.The workshops aim was to develop proactive mechanisms of self media regulation based on the compliance with the requirements, which are stated in the outlet statute. The workshops were helping for print media, internet portals or TV channels to use of corporate codes of ethics that the company implements principles of fair market competition in respect to current legislation.
The training agenda was focused on the review of the current condition of the media as a form of transnational business and popular culture, the peculiarities of functioning and regulation of global media and its influence on the national media. As well as, the discussion on concept of "digital sovereignty", the control as a public initiative, media compliance system as a modern scientific version of the response to the collapse of corporate culture, presentation of books and articles on media system compliance and analysis of specific conflict situations using a new methodology.
The project was implemented by the UNESCO International Programme for the Development of Communication (IPDC), which provides annual support for projects on media development. The project was devoted to #UN70 #UNESCO70 and to 2 November - International Day to End Impunity for crimes Against Journalists.
