On April 20, UNESCO Almaty participated in the special session on issues and solutions in transboundary water management in Central Asia as part of the Kazakhstan Institute of Management, Economics and Strategic Research (KIMEP) International Research Conference, April 19-21, 2012.
UNESCO’s presentation was mostly devoted to the upcoming opening of the Central Asian Regional Glaciological Center: the background, status and the issues the center will deal with were covered in the presentation. Representatives from different UN, donor and other organizations, i.e. UNDPI, UNDP, GiZ, German-Kazakh University etc. participated in the session. The Head of the United Nations Information Office in Kazakhstan delivered a speech about upcoming RIO+20 Conference.
